Everything you need to know about Playadex

Q What is Playadex?

Playadex is a free tool for tracking your retro video game collection. Whether you have 10 games or 10,000, we help you catalog, value, and never forget what you own. Think of it as a Pokédex, but for your games.

Q Why should I track my collection?

Insurance: Document your collection with photos and purchase info. If disaster strikes, you'll have proof.

Avoid duplicates: Ever bought a game at a flea market only to realize you already own it? Never again.

Track value: Know what your collection is worth and watch your investments grow.

Completionist goals: See exactly how close you are to completing platform collections.

Q What platforms are supported?

We support 24 platforms across 7 console generations, including Nintendo (NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Game Boy series, DS, 3DS), Sony (PlayStation 1-3, PSP, Vita), Microsoft (Xbox, Xbox 360), Sega (Master System, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear), and Atari 2600. More platforms are added based on community requests.

Q Is Playadex free?

Yes! Playadex is completely free to use. No premium tiers, no hidden fees, no ads. We're collectors ourselves and built this because we needed it.

Q Can I add games that aren't in the database?

Absolutely! If a game is missing, you can submit it. Your submission goes into a moderation queue to ensure quality, but your copy is immediately added to your personal collection while we review.

Q Can I track multiple copies of the same game?

Yes! Many collectors have multiple copies—different regions, variants (like Game Boy black carts), or condition upgrades. You can add as many copies as you want, each with its own photos, notes, and purchase details.

Q Is my collection private?

By default, yes. Your collection is completely private. If you want to share it, you can optionally enable a public profile that shows your collection to anyone with your profile link.

Q What's completionist mode?

An optional setting that shows you how close you are to completing each platform's library. See progress bars like "12 of 82 Game Boy Color games" on your dashboard. Perfect for collectors who want to catch 'em all.

Q Can I filter by console generation?

Yes! In your preferences, you can choose which console generations you care about. Only interested in 8-bit and 16-bit classics? Hide the newer stuff. Want it all? Keep everything visible. Your choice.
